A new Crystal Lake trailer has dropped to remind you that the original Friday the 13th killer wasn’t Jason Voorhees. It was his mother, Pamela Voorhees.
A24’s highly anticipated Crystal Lake TV show is making a major stop at New York Comic Con before its official debut on Peacock and HBO Max. The studio has confirmed that the Crystal Lake premiere episode will receive an exclusive first-look screening at the Empire Stage at the Javits Center in New York City.
Following the screening, attendees will be treated to a panel discussion featuring series creator Brad Caleb Kane (IT Welcome to Derry) and several members of the cast, including Linda Cardellini (Pamela), William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins (Officer Dorf), Gwendolyn Sundstrom (Claudette), and Callum Vinson (Jason).
This early screening offers a unique opportunity for fans to see how the production expands the mythology of the Friday the 13th franchise. Serving as a Friday the 13th prequel series to the 1980 horror movie classic, Crystal Lake trailer focuses on the life of Pamela Voorhees before she became the iconic killer. Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela, portraying a single mother struggling with grief nearly a year after the tragic drowning of her young son, Jason Voorhees. The narrative kicks off when two strangers arrive at her home to investigate her past, triggering a disturbing chain of events.
While the premise leans into psychological drama and conspiracy thriller elements, creator Kane has assured fans that the horror series will eventually embrace the bloody horror associated with the iconic horror movie franchise. He has teased that the series will feature numerous connections to the original films, including various Viernes 13 Easter eggs and recreations of familiar elements that long-time Friday the 13th fans will recognize.
The Camp Crystal Lake horror series has seen significant changes since it was first ordered by Peacock in 2022. While Bryan Fuller was initially attached as the writer and show runner, he departed the A24 project in 2024, leading to Kane taking over creative duties. Despite these behind-the-scenes shifts, the crystal lake show has already secured distribution with HBO Max for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the UK, and Ireland.
